I’ve never felt more vulnerable in my life than starting a blog. Typically, I have no problem talking in front of people, yet somehow, hiding behind my smartphone, I feel more nervous, more exposed. At any rate, thank you for joining me on a journey of a lifetime!
As the title suggests, everything has a starting point, and that’s exactly where I am. Square one. Becoming a singer/songwriter has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I never actually thought I would get the chance to pursue this, so I never focused on the path to get here. I wrote cute little songs all the time as a child, but again, never sang them to anyone… just little trinkets to keep to myself.
A few years ago, my mom encouraged me to join a new songwriting group at her church. This is where a little girls dream became a possibility! I didn’t have the equipment to bring in my own demo, so instead, I trotted in with nothing more than a few lyric sheets and my voice. The group was very supportive, and I could hardly wait to finish my first song!
The following year, a friend of mine recommended that I reach out to a man named Mark Dowdy to help me bring my song to life. In the beginning of 2014, I recorded my song, “Come to Me” as well as a few others written by some very talented folks in Nashville. While my first step down this road has been a long one, I’m excited to see where the next one takes me!
